Hi, I'm Kush Malwatkar

Engineer — Builder — Relentless tinkerer

I'm Kush Malwatkar, a Robotics Engineering student at Worcester Polytechnic Institute driven by the most interesting problems that live at the intersection of hardware and software.

At 14, I completed Harvard's CS50X, developed a passion for web development, pursued CS50W the next year. In high school, I rose the ranks of my FIRST Robotics Competition team, Shaker Robotics Team #2791 as Programming Lead, then Project Manager. Writing control systems under competition pressure and learning what it actually means lead and manage a large team. I founded my school's Mechatronics Club, grew it to 30+ members, and introduced students to circuits, sensors, and embedded systems for the first time.

Volunteering at a battery research lab at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, I tested novel cathodes for aqueous aluminum-ion batteries. Which I eventually presented at the 2024 Greater Capital Region Science & Engineering Fair. That same year, I won the 2024 Congressional App Challenge for NY District 20 by building a web app to educate users about financial literacy.

I continued to build projects like a US weather map with 100 individually addressable RGB LEDs driven by an ESP-32 pulling live API data, automated motor-driven blinds connected to my smart home ecosystem, motion-sensored LED systems, and more. I'm comfortable across a wide variety of technology, from C++ on microcontrollers to Python backends and web frontends. My curiosity and passion for learning driving me to never stop exploring.

I'm currently looking for opportunities where I can contribute to teams working in robotics, automation, embedded systems, and the like.
